From orchard visits to neighborhood fests, fall is full of reasons to get outside and soak it all in. We've rounded up a few local happenings to add to your list this weekend.

Celebrate Halloween early at Frights & Delights.

The Vernon Hills Park District blends two seasonal favorites—Trucks, Trunks & Treats and Fall Fest—into one day of family-friendly Halloween fun. Expect hayrides, inflatables, costume contests, and a lineup of food trucks serving festive bites. Border Tails Rescue will be on-site for dog adoptions, and pups can strut their stuff in the doggie costume parade. Trick-or-treat bags are provided, so bring your crew (and your pup) for a few hours of fall charm mixed with spooky fun.

Vote for your favorite at Stews & Brews.

Nothing says fall quite like a steaming bowl of comfort food paired with a cold-weather drink. Stews & Brews brings both to Highland Park, with dishes ranging from chili and pozole to Hungarian goulash and potpies. A wide selection of brews—craft beers, mulled cider, hot toddies—make this more than your standard food fest.
